Concordia University, Nebraska alumna Dr. Erin Huebschman has been selected as the 2010 Family Physician of the Year by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians. She received the award at the WAFP annual meeting, Feb. 3, in Milwaukee.

“My approach to family medicine is a rather straightforward one,” said Huebschman. “It is simply a reflection of my approach to everything in life: to work hard, to always offer my very best and, within my own ability and judgment, to do the right thing.”

Currently, Huebschman works at the Grant Community Clinic in Lancaster, Wis. She was nominated for the award by Laurie Meighan, a nurse practitioner in her office. This is the second time Huebschman has been nominated.

Huebschman is board certified in family practice with a focus on obstetrics. Her favorite thing about practicing medicine is the variety. “I treat patients birth to death.”

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia in 1994 and her doctorate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Huebschman completed her residency at the Clarkson Family Practice Residency Program in Omaha.

In addition to her practice, Huebschman is the medical director for the West Grant Rescue Squad, the Lancaster School District physician consultant and serves on the St. Mary’s/Dean Venture Regional Operations Committee.
