Pre-Pharmacy Featured Courses

As a student in the pre-pharmacy major at Concordia Nebraska, you’ll have the opportunity to take specialized courses related to various aspects of the pre-pharmacy profession. These classes, designed to equip you for leadership and service in various pre-pharmacy careers, are taught by some of our esteemed faculty who have extensive experience in their fields.

BIO 111
General Biology I 4 credits
Lecture 3, Lab. 2. The first course of a two-semester study of general biology for science majors and pre-health professional students. This course introduces students to the nature of science, cell and molecular biology, and genetics. Topics covered include cell structure and function, energy metabolism, cell division, classical genetics, DNA structure and function, gene expression, and gene regulation.

General Chemistry I 4 credits
Lecture 3, Lab. 3. The first course of a two-semester study of general chemistry for science majors and pre-health professional students. Atoms and molecules, chemical reactions and reaction stoichiometry, phases of matter, electronic structure, bonding, molecular shapes, and intermolecular forces.
ENG 102
Experiences in Writing 3 credits
This course focuses on helping students develop effective processes for writing in multiple genres, including research-based academic projects and creative works. Students will learn techniques for generating ideas as they create their own writing and related projects, giving and receiving feedback to other creators, finding, evaluating, and integrating sources, adapting rhetorical strategies for audience and context, revising and editing. Students will have multiple opportunities to use the lens of writing to better explore the enduring question: “How has God designed humankind to be creators in service to God and neighbor?”
MATH 122
Introduction to Statistics 3 credits
The fundamentals of elementary statistics, data collection and analysis, probability, distributions, sampling, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression.
MATH 184
Calculus I 4 credits
A beginning course in the analysis of functions including analytic geometry. A study of limits, techniques and applications of differentiation, transcendental functions, and basic integration.
