Concordia served as host to the The LCMS Nebraska District Convention June 4-6. Held once every three years, the convention is attended by pastors, teachers, directors of Christian education, professional workers and laypersons from the 245 congregations, 39 schools and four high schools that make up the Nebraska District.
"We thank God for these wonderful ministry partners," said Rev. Dr. Brian Friedrich, Concordia's president. "Because of our strong partnership, it is appropriate that the convention is one of our first official activities in the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center."
The convention elected Rev. Karl Ziegler of Papillion, Neb., Jim Knoepfel of Fremont, Neb., Mike Klintworth of Seward, Neb. and Lyle Middendorf of Lincoln, Neb. to serve on the Board of Regents for Concordia from 2009-2012.
Rev. Ziegler, who presently serves as senior pastor of First Papillion, was reelected to Concordia's Board of Regents, a position he has held since 2006. Knoepful is currently a principal and teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in Fremont. Klintworth is a vice president at Cattle National Bank & Trust Company, Seward, and served as an instructor for Concordia's degree completion program. Middendorf is an electrical engineer with LI-COR, Inc., Lincoln. The Rev. Russell Sommerfeld was reelected as president of the Nebraska District. In that capacity he serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Regents.
