Concordia University, Nebraska men's basketball head coach Grant Schmidt has announced the signing of Cuyamaca College’s (El Cajon, CA) Barrett Braun (Lakeside, CA) to a national letter of intent.
“Barrett is a highly-skilled player who we expect to play a valuable role in our program," said Schmidt. "With his size, skill set and work ethic, Barrett has the potential to develop into a solid contributor and his desire to win and make his teammates better is equally impressive.”
A 6-5, 214-pound wing, Braun was a two-year starter for the Coyotes and an honorable mention Pacific Coast Conference selection this past season. Braun is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he posted averages of 9.72 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for the Coyotes.
At El Capitan High School (Lakeside, CA), Braun was a two-time first team All-Grossmont North League nominee and two-time team captain for Coach Ross Furrow’s Vaqueros.
"I am excited that Barrett has chosen to continue his basketball & academic career at Concordia University. Barrett is an excellent 3-point shooter who has really worked on his ability to score off the dribble. He is a hard working, team oriented player who will fit in perfectly with the Concordia basketball program. Barrett is a quality individual who will be an asset to the Concordia University community" added Cuyamaca College coach Rob Wojtkoski.
Braun joins current Bulldog signees, Adam Vogt (Syracuse, NE), and Derrick Wiebe (Malcolm, NE).
Concordia University, Nebraska wrapped up the 2009-10 campaign at 18-12 overall and 12-6 in the competitive Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs were recognized nationally by being included in the NAIA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll and by defeating NAIA Division I top-ranked Robert Morris University.
