The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its 2007-08 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College today. For the seventh year Concordia University, Nebraska topped the list. The awards recognize teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade point averages for the 2007-08 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches. This is the seventh time in the WBCA's ten year history Concordia Nebraska has topped the NAIA, including an unprecedented run of six straight number one rankings from 2000-2005. No other team - NCAA, NAIA, or JC/CC - has equaled this feat. "It is a great honor to receive this high academic award," said Concordia University Head Coach Drew Olson. "I am proud of this team and what they accomplished. They were extremely disciplined and committed to the idea of student-athlete along with having their priorities in order: God, family, school, basketball, others. It was a great season; successful on the court and in the classroom."
Concordia's athletic teams are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Great Plains Athletic Conference. For the fifth consecutive year Concordia led the GPAC in NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
