Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Concordia University, Nebraska empowers students to turn ideas into action, guiding them from concept to launch. Grounded in a Christ-centered approach to vocation and service, the institute helps students develop practical skills, strategic thinking and entrepreneurial confidence to succeed in business and beyond.

Through mentorship, competitions and hands-on projects, students gain the experience and support they need to transform innovative ideas into tangible ventures.

Our Purpose

The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship exists to remove barriers and provide opportunities for students to bring their business ideas to life. By combining education, mentorship and experiential learning, the IIE prepares students to create, launch and sustain ventures that are both innovative and aligned with their values.

Key Areas of Focus

Entrepreneurial Experience

Students participate in the Concordia Catalyst Competition, a pitch and business plan contest that provides hands-on experience developing and presenting business concepts. They also work with local businesses on SWOT analyses, feasibility studies, financial planning and marketing campaigns.

Launch and Growth Support

As the IIE continues to expand, students will have opportunities to pitch to investors, compete in national entrepreneurship competitions and receive the mentorship and guidance needed to launch and maintain a successful business.

Practical, Faith-Integrated Learning

Through all programming, the institute emphasizes integrity, service and stewardship, helping students approach entrepreneurship in a way that honors God and serves their communities.

Collaboration and Mentorship

Students work closely with faculty, industry professionals, and local business partners to gain insights, practical experience and a support network that carries through from the classroom to the marketplace.

Concordia Catalyst Competition

The Concordia Catalyst Competition (C3) gives students a hands-on opportunity to turn their business ideas into reality. Participants develop business plans, conduct feasibility studies and create marketing campaigns while receiving mentorship from faculty and local business leaders.

This annual competition allows students to pitch their ideas, gain real-world experience and receive guidance to launch successful ventures all in a supportive, Christ-centered environment.
