Professional musician Nayanna Holley will join Concordia University ensembles for JazzFest.

The uniquely American music of the Jazz Age had audiences tapping their toes at Concordia University, Nebraska’s annual spring JazzFest. The concert included guest vocalist Nayanna Holley and Concordia’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Choir. Spring JazzFest took place Friday, April 29, at Weller Hall.

Holley has toured as a backup singer for such performers as Michael Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, the Dave Matthews Band and Queen Latifah. Holley visited Concordia in March to practice with the ensembles and spoke to students about her experiences in the music business.

“Jazz music is fun to perform and fun to listen to,” said Jazz Choir member, freshman J’Nae Rempfer, Blairstown, Iowa, citing the unique sounds and environment that JazzFest creates.

The concert was part of the Jones National Bank and Trust Fine Arts Series.
