Dr. Brandon Seifert, a 2001 Concordia alumnus, is the featured presenter during the 2010 Homecoming, Alumni Reunion and Family Weekend. His lecture will take place on Friday, Oct. 1, at 2:15 p.m. in the lecture room in Science Hall. The event is open to the public.

Seifert's presentation, "Life Science 101," will share with students how to apply faith, knowledge and the Concordia experience in their lives after graduation. He will discuss the multiple careers available in healthcare and the practice of orthopedic surgery, along with developing a skill set and enhancing resumes to help land a post-graduate job or graduate school acceptance.

After graduating from Concordia, Seifert worked as a bench chemist for LiCor Biosciences in Lincoln before beginning medical school at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 2002. He currently is completing his orthopedic surgery residency at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.  Seifert has been accepted into the Dr. James Andrews Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in Birmingham, Ala. During his year-long stint as a fellow, which will begin in August 2011, Seifert will serve with a team of physicians for such organizations as the Washington Redskins, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, USA Baseball, the LPGA, World Wrestling Entertainment, Auburn University and University of Alabama.

"I hope that my successes will inspire and encourage others to dream big and never stop chasing their dreams," said Seifert. "It was the relationships and guidance that I received from my professors and staff that have allowed me to continue to succeed in life."
