The University Symphonic Band at Concordia performed at the 2012 Nebraska Music Educators Association conference Nov. 14-16.

The Symphonic Band is directed by Andrew Schultz, assistant professor of music at Concordia, who said it was an honor to be selected for the conference. The band was selected based on an audition which Schultz submitted last May. The audition, comprised of three pieces the band performed last year, was then selected by a panel of judges and the band was invited to perform at the annual conference.

Concordia’s Symphonic Band was one of 15 high school and collegiate ensembles selected to perform throughout the three-day conference.

The mission of NMEA is to foster life-long learning and active music-making by all Nebraskans. It also serves as a support and education network for music instructors and educators across the state.
