More than 290 college students from across the country, along with more than 50 faculty, exhibitors and speakers, attended the 2015 Beautiful Feet Conference Nov. 12-14, 2015, at Concordia University, Nebraska. The students gathered to explore opportunities to serve local and international communities and to connect with other mission-minded students.

“As a university with a mission of equipping men and women for lives of learning, service and leadership in the church and world, Concordia University, Nebraska was honored to host this year’s conference,” said John Mehl, director of mission partnership and church relations at Concordia Nebraska. “Our students often serve their local communities and on international mission trips each year, so it was energizing to have even more mission-minded students from colleges and universities throughout the country on campus to connect with others who also want to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by serving their neighbor in word and deed.”

Students participated in several activities over the event’s three days. The students arrived on Nov. 12and began the conference with a prayer and praise gathering. Main speakers and small group sessions included discussions about God’s mission for his people, encouragement to selflessly serve others as Christ served the world and information about opportunities to serve locally and around the world.

In addition to experiencing the education and encouragement of the speakers and sessions, the college students completed 17 service projects including packing clothes for Orphan Grain Train, packaging food shipments for Kids Against Hunger, making small handheld wooden palm crosses with The Cross Makers of Seward and spending time with and helping residents at the Sunrise Country Manor nursing home in Seward.

A special concert by the alternative rock band Remedy Drive gave the college students an opportunity to relax, have fun and get to know the other conference attendees.
