In a game that featured a tension-filled top of the ninth, Doane prevailed in the 1-0 pitcher's duel. The Tigers celebrated the GPAC postseason title while Concordia now looks forward to playing in another national tournament.
Due to rainy and wet conditions in Crete, Neb., the 2023 GPAC Baseball Championship Game has been relocated to Hartog Field in Lincoln, as announced by the GPAC office. First pitch has been reset for 7 p.m. on Tuesday (May 9).
For the fourth season in a row, and for the fifth time since 2017, the Concordia Baseball program has reached the GPAC tournament championship game. Tuesday (May 9)'s GPAC final is slated to get underway at 3 p.m. CT at Doane.
The rewards on Saturday (May 6) came in the form of a spot in the GPAC tournament title game and an automatic bid to the national tournament. Concordia homered four times and got a complete game from Christian Gutierrez in a 16-3 mashing of Morningside.
Jaidan Quinn and Ernie Snyder were among the brightest of stars on Friday (May 5) as the Bulldogs advanced to the finals of the Concordia Bracket portion of the 2023 GPAC tournament. Concordia (37-15) will take on Morningside on Saturday.
It was another tension-filled battle with Northwestern in the GPAC tournament. A Ty Nekoliczak three-run homer in the sixth propelled the Bulldogs to a 7-4 win on day one of the 2023 postseason. Concordia moved to 36-15 overall.
Due to potential rain and thunderstorms in the evening, GPAC tournament baseball game times for Thursday (May 4) have been moved up earlier in the day. The schedule for Friday and Saturday remains the same.
