"The King of Hearts" presented in Feb. 2005
The university's theatre department presented "The King of Hearts" in the Studio Theatre in Feb. 2005
The play was set in the 1950's and co-authored by Jean Kerr and Eleanor Brooke. The main character was Larry Larkin, who is a popular comic artist. He hires F. Dignan as a temporary assistant to write his comic while on his honeymoon. Dignan discovers Larkin's self-centered inability to consider the needs of others and makes it his mission to rescue Larkin's fiancée Dunreath from a marriage that he tells her would be "a fate worse than the fate worse than death." The play sparkled with witty dialogue that is suitable for general audiences.
Adjunct Professor Robert Olson was the director and set designer, Professor Mira Wiegmann was the costume designer and Concordia student Jonathan Ross was the lighting designer.
