Gathering of the Talents

Concordia annually hosts hundreds of students from Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod churches, elementary and middle schools as part of its Gathering of the Talents festival. Begun in 1943, the event brings in participants from kindergarten through eighth grade from Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and South Dakota.

New Items!

Attention alumni!  Please stop by TLEC room 111 for an alumni reception.  We will have refreshments available all day so please plan to meet up with your fellow classmates to chat briefly in between your children’s performances. 

The Concordia admissions team would like to welcome all of our guests to campus with some giveaways!  Stop by the Concordia tables in the main lobby of Walz to sign up for a new gaming system and other fun prizes!  Prizes will be given away at the closing ceremony.  You must be present to win.

Schedule

Performances begin as early as 8 a.m. the day of the event. Campus venues and display areas for the Gathering of the Talents include:
  • Art: Displayed in the Walz Track Viewing Suite and Walz Hall of Fame Room

  • Creative writing: Displayed in the Walz Hall of Fame Room

  • Dance: Weller chapel (all day), Walz arena (afternoon)

  • Drama: Thom Leadership Education Center

  • Music: Bands - Walz arena (morning)

  • Music: Solos and small ensembles - Music Center

  • Music: Choirs - St. John Lutheran Church
A closing ceremony in the Walz arena, with the awarding of purple ribbons for outstanding talent, will conclude the day. At around 3 p.m., just prior to the closing ceremony, a short performance will be given while the final judge's scores are being tallied. Stay tuned for more details! The public is welcome to attend any of the day's events.
