Fall honor recital features 10 Concordia musicians

Ten student musicians from Concordia will perform in the fall honor recital on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the university’s Music Center. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The audition-only annual fall recital will feature voice and instrument solos of classic to contemporary music, including the organ piece “In dir ist Freude” by J.S. Bach as well as a tenor voice solo of “Something’s Coming” from the musical “West Side Story.”

Honor recital participants include:

Rachel Burger, sophomore, Adel, Iowa, clarinet, playing “First Fantasie” by Georges Marty

James Clausen, senior, Hull, Iowa, organ, playing “Passacaglia in D minor” by Dietrich Buxtehude

Peter Klinge, senior, State Center, Iowa, organ, playing “Toccata” by Eugene Gigout

Laura Hedstrom, freshman, Oxford, Neb., organ, playing “In dir ist Freude” by J.S. Bach

Jennifer Reynolds, junior, Fort Wayne, Ind., trumpet, playing “Trumpet Concert in E flat: Andante” by J.N. Hummel

Naomi Ristvedt, junior, Crete, Neb., flute, playing “Syrinx” by Claude Debussy

Ben Sievert, senior, Frankenmuth, Mich., trumpet, playing “Concerto” by Alexander Arutunian

Emily Sievert, freshman, Frankenmuth, Mich., soprano, singing “O del mio dolce ardor” by Christoph Willibald von Gluck

Jordan Miller, senior, Tomball, Texas, tenor, singing “Something’s Coming” (from “West Side Story”) by Leonard Bernstein

Ryan Gross, junior, Riverside, Calif., trumpet, playing “Maid of the Mist” by Herbert L. Clarke
