Concordia leads GPAC with 54 NAIA Scholar-Athletes

For the fourth consecutive year, Concordia University, Nebraska led the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) in number of NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The GPAC which features over 4,500 student-athletes in 19 sanctioned sports had 401 student-athletes earn the NAIA honor.

During the 2006-2007 season the Bulldogs paced the conference with 54 scholar-athlete award winners. In the last four years Concordia has had 188 student-athletes garner the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award.

In order to receive the honor, players must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be junior or above in academic standing. This was the first year that certain statistical requirements had been removed by the NAIA.  Following is a breakdown of Bulldog honorees by sport:

Women's Cross Country: 1
Men's Cross Country: 3
Football: 8
Men's Soccer: 2
Women's Soccer: 1
Volleyball: 5
Women's Basketball: 7
Men's Basketball: 2
Women's Track: 6
Men's Track: 5
Men's Tennis: 2
Women's Tennis: 1
Women's Golf: 3
Baseball: 3
Softball: 5
