Mount Marty jumped out early and cruised to an 81-68 women’s basketball win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers remained unbeaten on the season and improved to 8-0 overall and 1-0 in the GPAC with the win. Concordia dropped to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the GPAC with the loss.
Mount Marty took control of the contest early and led 17-2 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half. The Lancers led by as many as 19 in the opening half and settled for a 40-28 halftime lead. Mount Marty held a double-digit lead for the entire second half, as the Bulldogs couldn’t mount a rally.
Mount Marty connected on 22-of-45 shots in the game for 48.9 percent. The Lancers were 8-of-16 from the three point line and 29-of-35 from the free throw line for 82.9 percent. Concordia hit just 24-of-69 shots in the game for 34.8 percent. The Bulldogs struggled from deep, hitting just 5-of-18 from the three point line. Concordia was 15-of-20 from the foul line for 75 percent.
Jenny Miller and Michelle Amundson each scored 23 points to pace Mount Marty in the win. Amundson added a game-high seven boards for the Lancers.
Stacy Scheer had a team-high 21 points for Concordia in the loss. Treva Nutter added 12 points, and Kathryn Ommen had 11 off the bench for the Bulldogs.
Concordia travels to Midland Lutheran for a 6 p.m. contest against the Warriors on Nov. 24.
