The Concordia University throwers had an opportunity Wednesday night to get in some extra competition, taking part in the Midland Lutheran College thrower's meet in Fremont, Neb.
Brock Simonsen continued his strong 2009 campaign with marks to automatically qualify for the NAIA National Championships in both the shot put and discus. Simonsen was victorious in the shot with a mark of 52'.04", and finished second in the discus with a mark of 157'10.09". Jordan Hinrichs, competing for the first time in the 2009 outdoor season, threw 177'5.5" in the hammer throw, good enough for second. Amy Sandefur won the hammer throw with a toss of 156'2", a mark that also qualified her for the national meet. Carly Stokebrand finished second in the discus with a throw of 134'4.5" and in the hammer at 148'10.5". Freshman Lauren Eickmeyer qualified nationally in the shot put with a personal best of 42'11.5", good enough for second place.
The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the Concordia Invitational this Friday, April 3, at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Neb.
