TF: Bulldogs bring home All-American honors from NAIA Championships

Indoor national championships 2009 On Saturday the 44th Annual Men's and 29th Annual Women's NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships concluded in Johnson City, Tenn. Numerous Bulldogs had top-six finishes, earning All-American honors.

Concordia seniors Jordan Hinrichs and Michael Saalfeld turned in the best marks for Concordia's men at the meet. Hinrichs took second in the shot put with a throw of 16.74 meters, a new school record. Saalfeld placed third in the 800-meter run.

The highest finish on the women's squad was turned in by Emily Hansen, who took second in the 3000-meter race walk. Fourth place finishes were also turned in by Katie Swanson in the 600-meter run and by the women's 800-meter relay team of Emily Wolters, Bethany Sutton, Ann Hershberger and Katie Lutmer.

Pole vault - Josh Tonniges, 4th
Weight throw - James Refenes, 6th
Shot put - Jordan Hinrichs, 2nd (54' 11.25", school record)
3000 meter run - Zach Meineke, 6th
3000 meter race walk - Emily Hansen, 2nd
600 meter run - Katie Swanson, 4th
800 meter run - Bethany Sutton, 6th
Long jump - Charista Zehnder, 5th
Womens' 4 x 800 - Concordia (Emily Wolters, Bethany Sutton, Ann Hershberger and Katie Lutmer), 4th
