The Concordia University men's basketball team won its 23rd Concordia Invitational Tournament championship Saturday afternoon, holding on for a 61-60 victory over the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in the championship game of the 58th annual CIT.

Concordia Nebraska jumped out to a 30-18 halftime lead and for much of the second half held onto a double-digit lead. With seven minutes remaining in the second frame, however, the Falcons went on a 14-6 run and cut the Concordia Nebraska lead to two, 57-55, with 1:30 remaining. Concordia Wisconsin's Mitchell Schneider missed a game-tying layup and the Bulldogs extended their lead to four with free throws. A 3-point play by the Falcons cut the lead to one, but to no avail. The buzzer had sounded as the shot was made and the Bulldogs had earned the CIT trophy, their first since 2005.

With the victory the Bulldogs move to 17-7 overall. Their next game is against the Midland Lutheran College Warriors Tuesday, Feb. 3. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Doghouse in Seward, Neb.
