The Concordia University, Nebraska men's basketball team showed an explosive edge on offense it had rarely displayed this season in a 87-66 defeat of the Concordia University Chicago Cougars Friday night. The Bulldog victory came in the opening round of the 58th annual Concordia Invitational Tournament being held in Seward, Neb.
Dusan Veselinovic nailed a turn-around jumper in the lane with 15:24 remaining in the first half to break a 7-7 tie, and the game would not be in question the remainder of the contest. The Bulldogs extended their lead to as many as 25 while cruising to the double-digit win.
Four Bulldogs scored in double digits. Veselinovic led the way with 17 points, Tyler Bredehoeft added 12, Sam Huebner put 11 on the board and Ryan Shrum added 10. In all, Concordia Nebraska had 12 players register points in the game. Deontay Young led the way for the Cougars with 14 points.
Concordia Nebraska advances to the CIT championship where the Bulldogs face Concordia University Wisconsin, victors over Concordia University, Ann Arbor in the opening round. Tip-off for the men's championship on Saturday is 6:30 p.m.
