The Concordia University men's basketball team struggled shooting Tuesday night in a 75-70 defeat at the hands of Daemen College (N.Y.) in the final game of the Tripp Sports Classic in Mesa, Ariz.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 15-point lead, 55-40, after a 3-pointer by freshman Tyler Byrd with 11:48 remaining in the second half before Daemen began its come back. Over the next nine minutes Daemen outscored the Bulldogs 28-13 to tie the game at 68. Concordia made just one more field goal down the stretch while Daemen sank its shots to ice the game.
Concordia's offense struggled to find a rhythm as the Bulldogs turned the ball over 25 times and hit on just 3-of-13 3-point field goal attempts in the second half.
Dustin Weber led the Bulldogs with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting while Tyler Bredehoeft chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 10-3 as they prepare to head to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on the Briar Cliff Chargers on Saturday, Jan. 3.
