The Concordia University women's tennis team had its remarkable season come to a close on Saturday afternoon as Concordia fell to the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves 5-2 in the NAIA Region III Championships in Fremont, Neb.
Things looked to be heading in the right direction as the Concordia number one singles team won their match, 9-7, but things would turn south quickly for the Bulldogs. Nebraska Wesleyan would take the number two and three doubles matches 8-6 and 8-2.
The Bulldogs were quickly dispatched in the singles matches as Nebraska Wesleyan won the number 2, 3 and 5 matches handily to give the Prairie Wolves the Championship. Concordia sophomore Hannah Krueger had the only victory for the Bulldogs in number one singles, 6-1 and 6-1.
Concordia finishes the season with a record of 11-4 and 6-2 in the GPAC. The Bulldogs will lose only one senior (Jess Svajhart) and the entire starting six returning Concordia will look to make a run at the GPAC Championship in 2009.
