The Concordia University track team picked up 12 victories (7 men and 5 women) this past weekend participating in the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.
The Bulldog men had a very successful weekend with 7 even victories and numerous top five finishes. Senior Dusty Morehead picked up a victory in the pole vault with a height of 15' while Josh Tonniges tied for second at 14'. The Bulldog throwers continued to establish themselves taking the top three spots in the shot put as Matt Baller took the victory followed closely by Jordan Hinrichs and Brock Simonsen.
Simonsen was victorious in the discus throw with a distance of 159'7", besting second place by more than 17 feet. Luka Thor then went on to win the mile run with a time of 4:29.46. In the 400, Concordia's Michael Saalfeld placed first with a time of 50.26, while the Bulldogs Jimmy Boeder won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.09. The Bulldog men finished the day off winning the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:24.34.
The Bulldog women were equally as impressive, amassing five even victories, starting in the pole vault where Erin Eitzman placed first with a height of 11'5.75". The Bulldogs were also victorious in the triple jump when Holly Halambeck recorded a mark of 35'10.75". The Concordia 4X100 meter relay team picked up a victory with a time of 49.95. Katie Swanson continued to show improvement by winning the 400 with a time of 1:00.23. The final victory of the day for the Bulldogs came in the 200 as Charista Zehnder placed first with a time of 26.35.
Concordia will prepare now for its home meet, the Concordia Invite, which will take place April 11 and 12 at Bulldog Stadium.
