Concordia University, Nebraska golf team began its season with two consecutive meets. The first was the Southeast Community College meet in Beatrice, Neb, on March 27-28. The team would then travel to Hesston, Kan., for the Bethel Invite on March 29-30.
The Bulldogs started the season off strong with a third place finish at the Southeast Community College meet on a day that saw most team scores soar due to adverse conditions. The Bulldogs finished with a two day total of 680.
The lone medalist on the day for Concordia was sophomore John Zilm who finished with a two day total of 165. Other notable scores from the day for the Bulldogs were: 167 by Mike Frates, 174 by Mike Kulzer, and 174 by Garrett Rathke.
Concordia then had little downtime to prepare for the Bethel Invite. Concordia finished the two-day tournament with a team score of 638, good enough for 13th place. The Bulldogs were able to improve on their previous day's scores by 42 strokes.
Rathke was the lone medalist for the Bulldogs for the meet. He had a two-day total of 155. Zilm shot a 159. The other two notable finishes for Concordia were Mike Kulzer with a 160 and Mike Frates with a 164.
The next action for the Bulldogs comes April 3 when they will head into Lincoln, Neb., to take part in the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite.
