The Concordia University women's basketball team got back on the winning track by defeating the Dana College Vikings 70-63 in GPAC action Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse in Seward, Neb.

With the win the Bulldogs' (24-5, 13-5 GPAC) continue their hold on fourth place in the conference, earning them a first round bye in the GPAC post season tournament. Dana (9-21, 4-14 GPAC) will end the season as the No. 11 seed and will travel to Dakota Wesleyan for a first round match-up on Tuesday night.

The Vikings shrugged off a 13-point Bulldog lead at halftime to pull within striking distance, down one with only 4:24 remaining in the second half. Concordia's experience and clutch free throw shooting proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs held on for the 70-63 victory.

Junior guard Melissa Tinkham led all scorers with 15 points while Libby Hirssig and Whitney Stichka each contributed 14 points a piece for the Bulldogs. Jenni Lovegrove was able to get back on track for the Bulldogs in the post, pulling down nine rebounds while scoring eight points.

The Vikings were led by Amy Nichol with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Amanda Bryant added 12 points for Dana.

The Bulldogs will wait to see who they will play in the second round of the GPAC post season tournament. On Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Concordia will host the winner of Tuesday night's Midland at Mount Marty match-up.
