The Concordia University baseball team opened up the season dropping a double header 5-2 and 9-1 to the Metro State Roadrunners at Auraria Field in Denver, Colo. Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore starter Jacob Shafter was tagged with the loss after throwing five and two thirds giving up five runs on eight hits. The Bulldog offense managed only two hits in the first outing of the season.

In game two the Bulldog offense managed to produce more hits but the Bulldog pitching staff was taxed as start Matt Rottman lasted only two and a third innights giving up four runs on four hits to pick up the loss for the Bulldogs. Concordia used six pitchers in the game. Left fielder Adam Moyer led the Bulldog offense going 3-for-3 from the lead off position.

The series continues with games three and four on Sunday beginning at 11 am in Denver, Colo.
