WBB: Bulldogs cruise past Prairie Wolves

The 10th-ranked Concordia University women's basketball team cruised to a 91-74 road victory over the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves on Wednesday evening at the Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

The Bulldogs (23-4, 12-4 GPAC) struggled from long range but played strong defense, forcing 20 turnovers. Nebraska Wesleyan (5-17, 2-13 GPAC) continues to struggle as a team now dropping 11 of their last 13 games.

Nebraska Wesleyan began the game with a quick bucket off the opening tip but the Bulldogs quickly got into the flow of the game and with a Jenni Lovegrove lay-up, putting Concordia up 4-2 the Bulldogs never trailed again. The Bulldogs struggled from beyond the arc, draining only 4-of-18 three-pointers but sank an amazing 34-of-38 free throws.

Junior guard Whitney Stichka led all scorers with 26 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field and 12-for-12 from the free throw line, while Melissa Tinkham added 25 points. All Concordia players who entered the game had at least two points.

Nebraska Wesleyan was led offensively by Katy Golden with 20 points, while Ashley Bordovsky added 15 points for the Prairie Wolves.

The Bulldogs will head to Sioux Center, Iowa for a 2 pm Saturday afternoon GPAC match-up with the Dordt College Defenders.
