Article Body
The Concordia University, Nebraska men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker 66-65 to the Briar Cliff Chargers on Saturday afternoon in GPAC action at the Doghouse.

Against Briar Cliff the Bulldogs couldn't overcome the points that the Chargers put up from the charity stripe. Briar Cliff attempted 24 free throws, making 16 of them, to Concordia's five attempts in the Charger victory on Saturday. Briar Cliff scored 26 of their 66 points in the paint to Concordia's 12 points down low.

The Bulldogs seemed to be fighting an uphill battle all afternoon, after Concordia jumped out to a quick 10-4 advantage, Briar Cliff seemed to control the rest of the half, taking a 37-31 lead into halftime.

Concordia was able to fight back in the second half, and took a 50-49 lead at the 9:32 mark. The Chargers responded with a 9-2 run over the next five minutes to take a commanding 60-52 lead with 3:32 remaining in the second half. The Bulldogs were not finished though, on the next two possessions senior Scott Hannon and sophomore Dustin Weber knocked down three pointers to pull within two at 60-58.

That was the closest Concordia would get until Weber sank a half court shot at the buzzer to bring the Bulldogs back within one, 66-65. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 7-8 (2-4 GPAC) as Concordia will look to pull off a big upset on Wednesday night as they head to Hastings, Neb. for an 8 p.m. match up with the Broncos who come into the game ranked #8 in the nation.
