The Bulldog athletic teams had a busy weekend on the road as the cross country team traveled to the NAIA Championships while both the men's and women's basketball teams were in action in Portland, Oregon.
In Kenosha, Wis., the women's cross country team continued their streak of top 20 finishes intact, placing 15th as a team. The Bulldogs have now been in the top 20 as a team for 14 consecutive years. Kayla Engel was the top finisher for the women, taking 29th overall. On the men's side Concordia finished 22nd. The complete results can be found here.
In hoops action the Bulldog women's took the title at the first-ever Pacific Northwest Lutheran Invitational Tournament, defeating Pacific Lutheran University, 81-62, in the title game. Juniors Whitney Stichka and Melissa Tinkham were each named to the all-tournament team, with Tinkham taking MVP honors. (Championship Game Boxscore)
On the men's side the Bulldogs closed the tournament with a win, downing Augsburg College, 82-75. Benjamin Buhr had 23 points in the victory, including six three-point field goals, including five in the first half. As a team the Bulldogs also converted on 22-23 free throws.
