The Concordia University, Nebraska women's soccer team ended its season on a high note with 6-2 win over Mount Marty College in front of a senior/parent's night crowd on Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium in Seward. Concordia finishes the season with an overall record of 5-13-0 (3-9-0 GPAC). The Bulldogs featured a young squad, with only four upperclassmen and were hurt early in the season by injuries.
The lone senior on the squad, Shelly Davis, finished the game with three saves. But it was the Bulldog offense that erupted on Saturday with six goals.
Freshman Hannah Denk opened the scoring for the Bulldogs 25 minutes into the match scoring off an assist from fellow freshman Molly Hein. Just 25 seconds later Carolyn Chrzan put Concordia up 2-0 off a pass from Amber Dirks.
Denk added another goal, her team-leading 10th of the season, 20 minutes into the second half to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 cushion.
The Lancer of Mount Marty made things interesting, getting a pair of goals in just less than three minutes to pull within one with 15 minutes remaining in regulation.
Concordia or more aptly, Chrzan answered, scoring two of the Bulldogs three goals in the final 15 minutes to garner the hat trick. Hein also got into the action, scoring her first goal of the season on an assist from Chrzan with 64 seconds left in the game.
