MS: Up and down season continues

Article Body
The Concordia University, Nebraska men's soccer team roller coaster of a season continued this past week, as the Bulldogs picked up a 2-1 win over Doane College in overtime during the week, before falling 3-0 to Briar Cliff on Saturday.

Freshman sensation Arturo Vega continues to lead the Bulldogs offensively as he scored both goals for Concordia in the win over Doane. Vega started things off with a bang against Doane, scoring just 4:08 into the game on an assits from George Lara Jr., from 15-yards out.

Doane tied things up in the 52nd minute as Andrew Moore found the back of the net. That proved to be the last goal either team would score in regulation.

Bulldog goalie, Noah Enke finished the game with seven saves, two of them coming in the second half, the other two in overtime.

Vega scored the game winner five minutes into overtime on an assist from Andrew Nelson. Vega now has 12 goals on the season, the most by a Bulldog since David Ross in 2000, who also had 12 during his freshman campaign.

On Saturday the Bulldogs traveled to Sioux City to take Briar Cliff. The Chargers out-shot Concordia 20-14 (10-4 on goal), although Concordia did play to a 0-0 tie through one half of play.

Three different players scored for Briar Cliff in the loss.

Concordia was scheduled to take on Dana College in Blair, Neb., on Tuesday, but because of heavy rains and the field being unplayable in Blair, the game has been moved to Bulldog Stadium at 8 p.m.
