Concordia dominated GPAC Day of Duals No. 2, wiping out Northwestern, Morningside and Dakota Wesleyan by a combined score of 109-27. The Bulldogs secured second place in the final GPAC regular season standings.
A conference regular season champion will be crowned this weekend at GPAC Day of Duals No. 2. As part of the event, the Bulldogs will take on Northwestern, Morningside and Dakota Wesleyan.
A young group of Bulldogs took to the mats at the Sioux City Open on Saturday (Jan. 31) and combined for 15 wins. Simon Arredondo and Gabe Lujan paced Concordia with three victories apiece.
Days after winning the 157-pound Missouri Valley Invite title, Concordia's Hagen Heistand was named the GPAC Wrestler of the Week. Heistand went 5-0 with two wins over ranked opponents at the tournament.
One of two finalists at the Missouri Valley Invite, Hagen Heistand won the 157-pound title while helping 22nd-ranked Concordia to a third place finish. Five Bulldogs earned place finishes.
Six Bulldogs reached the quarterfinals and three advanced to the semifinals while helping position the team in fourth place after day one of the Missouri Valley Invite. Action will resume in the morning on Jan. 24.
The Missouri Valley Invite annually serves as a preview of the NAIA National Championships. The Bulldogs will send 12 competitors to this weekends grand NAIA event in Marshall, Mo.
Nine Bulldogs emerged with top-four place finishes at the Hastings Open on Jan. 10. As the team's headliners, Cole Price and Paul Ruff won their respective brackets as part of a strong overall showing.
Concordia celebrated senior day by manhandling No. 17 Friends and Midland as part of a triangular on Thursday (Jan. 8). Barret Brandt made waves by knocking off two nationally ranked opponents.
A monthlong idle stretch will conclude on Thursday when the Bulldogs welcome Friends and Midland to Friedrich Arena for a triangular. Prior to the night's final dual, Concordia will recognize its eight seniors.
