In its return to action, the Concordia shooting sports team placed fifth out of 12 teams and broke the school record in sporting clays. Erin Lokke and Sarah Schwacher paced the Bulldogs in sporting clays.
In a strong field, Concordia placed fourth by knocking out 1,527 targets as a team at the ACUI Midwest Championship. A particularly impressive women's group cleaned up in skeet with five top-six placements.
Graduate assistant coach and star shooting competitor Erin Lokke continues to raise her own standards. She is currently in eighth place among female skeet shooters at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
The Concordia shooting sports volunteered its time at the Kids & Clays Sporting Clays Tournament that raised money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. More than $87,000 were raised.
Bryon Baca and Sarah Schwacher emerged as two of the team's brightest stars as Bulldog shooting sports broke two school records at the Hastings Bronco Invite. Schwacher placed second HOA among females.
The Concordia shooting sports program put on its own event and placed second at the Bulldog Sporting Classic held Oct. 5-6 at Oak Creek Sporting Club. Three Bulldogs earned placements on the podium.
The combined totals of Concordia's top five shooters resulted in a fourth-place finish at the Prairie Circuit Classic Fall Championship in North Platte, Neb. Thirty-four Bulldogs competed at the event.
While in action at the Midland Ice Out (Sept. 21-22), the Bulldogs broke school records in double skeet and sporting clays. Senior Monica Dale placed first among females in double skeet with a nearly perfect score.
The Concordia shooting sports season began last weekend with the Bulldogs breaking a school record in trap (493/500). Colten Uitermarkt shot a perfect score in that event as part of the Fort Hays State Shoot.
