Allie Brooks broke two school records in another big day for the sophomore from Seward. Additionally, Lucas Wiechman rose to the top of the national leaderboard in the heptathlon and five event titles were won by Bulldogs.
Allie Brooks joined her father Gene as a school record holder in the pole vault in a highlight performance at the Concordia Classic on Sunday. Brooks was one of five event titlists for the Bulldogs.
Athletes from 12 institutions will be on hand for Sunday's Concordia Indoor Classic hosted by the Bulldog track and field program. It will be the first home appearance of 2017 for first-year head coach Matt Beisel's squads.
Tabbed the GPAC men’s field athlete of the week earlier in the day, defending weight throw national champion Cody Boellstorff received an upgrade later on Wednesday. Boellstorff is the national leader in the weigh throw.
In the first 2017 national ratings released by the USTFCCCA, the Bulldogs checked in at No. 4 on the men's side and at No. 12 on the women's side. Both programs claimed top-five finishes at the 2016 indoor national championships.
The Concordia men's track and field program has swept GPAC weekly honors. Cody Boellstorff won another weight throw competition and Wiechman turned in stellar marks in three different events in last week's action.

An impressive first weekend of his senior season netted CJ Muller GPAC track athlete of the week honors. Muller has qualified for nationals in the 600 meters and as part of the 4x400 meter relay.
Concordia track and field produced 11 national qualifying marks on Saturday as it opened up the 2017 indoor season. The stars of the day were athletes such as Allie Brooks, Zach Lurz and CJ Muller.
An unprecedented group of Seward Bluejays, in both quantity and quality, is set to join Matt Beisel's track and field program. Says Beisel, "They’re awesome kids and I want to have them be part of our program."
