SEWARD, Neb. – For the third-straight week, a Concordia University track and field performer has been named an NAIA national athlete of the week. On Wednesday the NAIA bestowed junior Cody Boellstorff with the distinction of NAIA National Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. The run of national honorees began with senior Kim Wood on Jan. 20 and continued last week with junior Zach Lurz (Jan. 27).

Boellstorff, the 2015 NAIA outdoor hammer throw national champion, surpassed his own school record last week in the weight throw with an NAIA-leading toss of 65’ 11 ½” at the Concordia Classic. That measurement tops the NAIA leaderboard by more than four-and-a-half feet. The native of Waverly, Neb., is a four-time All-American (three times in the hammer, once in the weight throw). He was the 2015 GPAC hammer throw champion. Boellstorff is also the program record holder in the hammer (205’ 8”).

The Bulldog track and field squads, ranked fourth (women) and fifth (men) nationally, return to action this weekend at both the Sevigne Husker Invite (Feb. 5-6) and the Fred Beile Classic (Feb. 6) hosted by Doane.
