In his second outing as a Bulldog, junior Hagen Heistand made a splash by winning the 149-pound Denker Open title in dominant fashion. Ten Bulldogs combined for 13 wins at the open.
A fruitful Hastings Open saw two Bulldogs win championships and another seven place within the top four of their respective brackets. Overall, Concordia wrestlers combined for 45 wins with 22 coming by pin.
The continuation of Creighton Baughman’s undefeated run served as the bright spot on Friday as the Bulldogs were defeated at home by sixth-ranked Doane, 46-3. Concordia slipped to 3-2 in duals.
A 5-0 record and tournament title at the Oppenheim Open led to Creighton Baughman being named the GPAC Wrestler of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Concordia and No. 8 Doane will go head-to-head in dual action inside Friedrich Arena on Friday. The Bulldogs are 3-1 in duals and are coming off the Oppenheim Open that included a trio of place finishes.
In the team’s first action since hosting GPAC Day of Duals No. 1, the Bulldogs entered 26 wrestlers into competition and came away with 51 wins and three place finishes. Creighton Baughman won the 141-pound weight class.
A win Concordia's 33-22 team triumph over Hastings led to Creighton Baughman being named the GPAC Wrestler of the Week. Baughman has opened this season at 3-0 in conference duals.
Barret Brandt emerged as one of three Bulldogs to go 2-0 at the GPAC Day of Duals hosted by Concordia. As a team, Concordia defeated Dakota Wesleyan, 32-10, before falling by the same score to Morningside.
In the same calendar year that the Bulldogs hosted the 2024 GPAC Championships, they will stage GPAC Day of Duals No. 1 of 2 for the 2024-25 season. Concordia will dual twice as part of the event.
A group of 14 Bulldogs combined to win 11 matches at a loaded Younes Hospitality Open field in Kearney. Five Concordia wrestlers won two matches apiece.
