The final contest before Christmas is coming up Friday at Dordt for Concordia men's basketball. The Bulldogs are looking to get back into the win column after two losses to nationally-ranked teams last week.
Career high point totals for Eli Ziegler (28) and Tanner Shuck (24) helped make for an entertaining afternoon at Walz. However, sixth-ranked Northwestern escaped with a 93-89 overtime win.
Plenty of firepower was on display on Wednesday night in Sioux City, Iowa, where 23rd-ranked Morningside held off Concordia, 92-88. Eli Ziegler put up 19 of his team high 22 points in the first half.
Concordia has been sizzling on the offensive end. The Bulldogs enter this week with momentum after scorching No. 10 Dakota Wesleyan behind a career day from senior Seth Curran.
Concordia upset No. 10 Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday and improved to 6-0 at home this season. The red-hot Bulldogs shot 62.5 percent from the field and got a career high 20 points from Seth Curran.
Twelve different Bulldogs scored in a 104-72 blowout win over Haskell Indian Nations on Thursday. Concordia drained 16 treys, five of which came from the hot hand of Eli Ziegler.
Concordia men's basketball is back at home this week for two new challenges. After hosting Haskell Indian Nations on Thursday, the Bulldogs will welcome No. 10 Dakota Wesleyan to Walz Arena on Saturday.
The margin between winning and losing can be razor thin in the GPAC. In Tuesday’s rivalry renewal, the Bulldogs fell at Doane, 80-77, in a wire-to-wire clash. Tanner Shuck came off the bench to make 5-of-6 shot attempts.
Concordia men's basketball has won three-straight meetings with Doane. The Bulldogs hope to make it four in a row when they play in Crete on Tuesday (Nov. 22). Concordia is 1-2 in GPAC play.
Concordia sizzled on Saturday, shooting 59.7 percent from the floor in continuing an early-season theme of efficient offensive play. Hot shooting helped the Bulldogs blow away Mount Marty, 102-69.
