Led by a one-under-par from Ivan Yabut, Concordia Men's Golf resides in a tie for first place after day one at the Doane Spring Invite. Seven Bulldogs shot scores of 77 or lower while in action at Woodland Hills Golf Course.
Jake Hagerbaumer and Drew D'Ercole placed inside the top five of the final Nebraska Intercollegiate leaderboard this weekend (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) while the Bulldogs finished fifth as a team.
After day one at the Nebraska Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs are in the hunt for a championship. They are six strokes off the lead while being paced by Drew D'Ercole, who is tied for third individually.
Concordia hung right with each and every GPAC team present at the Siouxland Invite on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 12-13). Led by Ivan Yabut and Jacob Woodmancy, the Bulldogs placed fourth out of 15 teams in the field.
With Jacob Woodmancy leading the way, the Bulldogs have themselves near the top of the standings with 36 of 54 holes complete at the Siouxland Invite. Action will shift from Sioux Center to Orange City for the event's final round.
A solid overall showing for Concordia on its home course resulted in sub-300 team scores in each round and a fifth place finish at the Blue River Classic. Individually, Jacob Woodmancy placed fifth and earned a medal.
As part of Concordia's second grouping at the Blue River Classic, Jacob Woodmancy shot two rounds under part and is just three strokes out of the tournament lead. The Bulldog 'A' team is currently in sixth place.
Concordia Men's Golf is getting set to co-host the annual Blue River Classic, which will run Tuesday and Wednesday (54 total holes) from Highlands Golf Course. The field will feature 78 golfers from nine institutions.
Omaha native Ivan Yabut combines a big game with a big smile and a big heart. The sport of golf has provided Yabut a platform for reaching others and spreading the joy the game has given him.
The Bulldogs went low at the UC Ferguson Classic, turning in school records for best scores for a single round and for a two-round tournament. Drew D'Ercole led the way by shooting a 139 over the two rounds in Oklahoma City.

Both Concordia golf programs continued their ascent in the league standings in 2014-15. Now in his fifth season, head coach Brett Muller expects his squads to produce even better results throughout the 2015-16 campaign.
