EAGLE, Neb. – The Concordia University Men’s Golf team showed no signs of rust on Friday (March 24) as it opened the spring portion of its 2022-23 season. The Bulldogs ended round one of the Doane Spring Invitational tied with Midland for first place in a field of 15 squads (11 total institutions represented). Individually, Ivan Yabut paced Concordia while shooting below par on the first of two days. The action on Friday took place at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Neb.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s ‘A’ team shot a score of 296 (+12) at Woodland Hills. The Bulldogs loaded the field with 14 individual competitors out of the 91 golfers entered into the Doane Invite.
The Omaha native Yabut is tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 70 (one off a season best). Freshman Jake Richmond also resides inside the top 10 (tied for ninth) thanks to his 74. Yabut and Richmond were joined on the ‘A’ team by Drew D’Ercole (76; T-19th), Justin Webert (76; T-19th) and Jake Hagerbaumer (77; T-29th). The depth of Concordia was on display as seven Bulldogs shot 77 or lower, including Jacob Woodmancy (76) and Gavin McWhorter (77).
The Bulldog ‘B’ team carded a score of 316 and was led by Woodmancy and McWhorter. The ‘B’ squad is sitting in 10th place heading into day two. All 14 Concordia individual scores from Friday are listed below.
