SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Jacob Woodmancy remained hot on Monday (Sept. 12) as the Concordia University Men’s Golf team competed near the top of the standings at the Siouxland Invite. With 36 of 54 holes in the books, the Bulldog ‘A’ squad is tied for third out of 15 teams in the field that navigated The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa. The 10 Concordia golfers combined to shoot 16 rounds in the 70s on the first of two days of the tournament co-hosted by Dordt and Northwestern.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s ‘A’ team turned in a score of 294-297–591 on Monday and is tied with Morningside for third. The top two teams heading into Tuesday’s final round are Indian Hills Community College (557) and Northwestern (587). Eight GPAC schools are represented at the Siouxland Invite.
A Perkins County High School product, Woodmancy is aiming for back-to-back top 10 tournament placements after he shot 68-71-71–210 last week at the Blue River Classic and placed fifth. Woodmancy is currently tied for seventh at the Siouxland Invite (72-73–145) after shooting one-over-par through 36 holes. Woodmancy stands seven strokes off the tournament lead in a field of 83 golfers. Right behind him is teammate Ivan Yabut (71-75–146), who sits in a tie for 11th place.
Rounding out the Bulldog first team of five was Jake Richmond (76-73–149; T-24th), Drew D’Ercole (75-76–151; T-35th) and Justin Webert (77-79–156; T-49th). Concordia’s second grouping at the Siouxland Invite carded a score of 314-304–618 and is in 10th place. The top performer within that grouping was Josh D’Ercole (72-78–150; T-30th).
