Prepped at Chase County High School … coached by Carl Zuege … lettered all four years … helped the Longhorns to two track state championships and four conference titles … part of Nebraska Class C state record breaking 4x400-meter relay … boke school record in the 800 meters … played baseball, basketball and football all four years and was a starter in each sport … named all-conference in football and basketball as both a junior and senior … led Chase County to the state baseball tournament and to a runner-up state legion finish as a sophomore … graduated with honors (4.0 GPA).
