Head coach Todd LaVelle has a high standard for the Bulldog softball program. While wrapping up the 2018 campaign that finished with a .500 record, LaVelle discussed how 2019 could be different.
Coming off a 34-win season (second best in school history), the Bulldogs will have a new-look lineup and pitching staff this season. Head coach Todd LaVelle's squad will be anchored by junior 2B Leah Kalkwarf.
Kenna Heath has gone from Bluejay to Cougar to Bulldog. Says Kenna, "God really showed me that I needed to do something different and I am working on trusting Him and His plan for me." Kenna joined the softball team at semester.
Said Crete softball coach Shawn Carr, "All the little kids in Crete say they want to be Camry, my daughter included." Added Concordia softball coach Todd LaVelle, "Cam's one of those kids that makes your day a little bit brighter."
In the community and on the diamond, the 2017-18 Concordia softball team is working to uphold a winning culture. The results so far this fall have been promising for a youthful squad led by captain Leah Kalkwarf.

From day one, Michaela Woodward proved herself as a winner. After a legendary effort as a freshman at the 2015 GPAC tournament, Woodward has continued to elevate her game. She departs early to pursue a nursing career.
A new approach has helped senior Megan Ruppert shine in her second season as a Bulldog. Ruppert has led the team in batting average while playing a sparkling center field. She is a transfer from McCook CC.
Plenty firepower returns to a Concordia lineup that averaged nearly 6.5 runs per game in 2016. Head coach Todd LaVelle's Bulldogs were picked to finish third in the GPAC preseason poll. The season begins Friday (Feb. 10) in Fort Worth, Texas.
Junior-to-be Michaela Woodward recently journeyed to South Africa to play and teach softball. She also swam with great white sharks.
