When operating at peak levels, the 2023 Concordia Football team showed a flair for offensive fireworks. Led by DJ McGarvie, the Bulldogs set another new offensive standard before completing the season at 5-5.
Thanks to one of the more productive offenses in Concordia University Football history, the 2023 Bulldogs broke significant program records. DJ McGarvie and Austin Jablonski both rose to the top of one or more program lists.
A group of nine Bulldogs from the Concordia Football program earned 2023 All-GPAC honors, as announced by the league on Nov. 15. First team accolades went to receiver Austin Jablonski and defensive lineman Kyle Sterup.
For his performance in the win at Mount Marty, Austin Jablonski was recognized as the GPAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Jablonski returned a kickoff 88 yards while totaling 215 all-purpose yards in the victory.
Efficient offense and an opportunistic defense made Concordia a runaway winner at Mount Marty, 45-21, in the 2023 season finale. Five Bulldogs found the end zone, including CJ Dyhrkopp on a 40-yard pick six to put the cherry on top.
The unassuming DJ McGarvie tends to shy from the spotlight, but attention is unavoidable for the standard-setting quarterback. McGarvie isn't just breaking Concordia's passing records, he's crushing them.
Concordia and Mount Marty will meet in Yankton in the 2023 season finale for both sides. Coming off a win over Doane, the Bulldogs have an opportunity to finish at .500 and place as high as a tie for fourth in the final GPAC standings.
A record-breaking day for DJ McGarvie led to the junior quarterback being named the GPAC Offensive Player of the Week. McGarvie threw for 364 yards and totaled five touchdowns while leading the 55-26 win over Doane.
DJ McGarvie totaled five touchdowns while leading Concordia to a 56-25 rout of Doane on senior day. In the process, McGarvie broke program career records for passing touchdowns and passing yards.
The Concordia Football program will honor its 20 seniors on Saturday while hosting its final home game of 2023. Following senior day festivities, the Bulldogs will host Doane in the 68th all-time meeting between the two sides.
An in-season overhaul of the offense transformed the Concordia passing attack into something never before seen in the history of the program. The exploits of DJ McGarvie and Korrell Koehlmoos were highlights of the 2022 season.
