Eleven Bulldogs represented Concordia Weightlifting Sports in the program's first-ever powerlifting event. The team competed alongside mostly Midland athletes as part of the Warrior Open in Fremont, Neb., on Oct. 8.

All seven Concordia athletes who competed in the first-ever competition for Concordia Lifting Sports earned medals with four placing first among college athletes. Five Bulldogs also exceeded national qualifying standards with their performances.

The inaugural season of Concordia Weightlifting Sports is set to get started on Sept. 10-11 with the MidAmerica Nazarene Open. That competition will be one of eight throughout the 2022-23 campaign for Head Coach Freddie Myles squad.

The first head coach in the history of Concordia University Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting is Freddie Myles, who will lead the Bulldogs into competition in 2022-23. The native Californian has spent the past 16 years developing elite powerlifters at his own gym.
