2022 Concordia Football Schedule
SEWARD, Neb. – Start the countdown. The Concordia University Football program has announced its 2022 schedule. The Bulldogs will kick off the ’22 season on the home turf of rival Doane on Sept. 3. The 10-game regular season slate is made up exclusively of conference opponents and will conclude on Nov. 12 when defending national champion Morningside makes its way to Bulldog Stadium.
Head Coach Patrick Daberkow’s program is coming off an encouraging 7-3 campaign in 2021. The ’21 season featured a sweep of in-state GPAC rivals Doane, Hastings and Midland. Daberkow is getting set for his sixth season as head coach (16th overall season at Concordia). His full-time staff features assistant coaches Corby Osten, Trent Laune and Grady Koch.
Homecoming will come early in 2022 with Sept. 17 marking the annual alumni celebration. Hastings will serve as the opponent on that date. In conjunction with homecoming weekend, Concordia Athletics will host its first Hall of Fame banquet since 2019. The home slate will pick up during the month of October with Jamestown (Oct. 8), Mount Marty (Oct. 15) and Dordt (Oct. 22) on the docket in consecutive weeks. The bye arrives already in mid-September as the Bulldogs are slated to have a break the week after opening the season at Doane.
Concordia hopes to make a run at the program’s first NAIA playoff berth since 2001. The 2022 NAIA playoffs are set to get started with the first round on Nov. 19. The site of the national championship game (Dec. 17) is Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, N.C.
The Bulldogs will return two first team all-conference honorees in the form of center Johnny Robinson III and tight end Garrett Schardt. Defensively, Concordia will say goodbye to GPAC Defensive Player of the Year and five-time First Team All-GPAC award winner Lane Napier at linebacker.
