How did you get into esports?
Given this was the first year of the sport being offered on campus, there were not many students with the time to become involved. As one of my closest friends was interested in joining the team and I had started to play rocket league at the onset of the pandemic, I felt it would be a fun opportunity to join the team.

What’s your favorite game and why?
Out of the games offered in esports, my favorite game is Rocket League (as it is the only one I play). I enjoy Rocket League because there is a very high skill ceiling, meaning one can play for a long time while constantly improving on the game through the learning of new mechanics. I also enjoy sports-related games, and Rocket League provides a unique spin on various sports, specifically soccer.

Why did you choose Concordia?
I chose Concordia because it presented me the opportunity to stay involved in the various activities I enjoy doing, primarily music and speech, and now esports, of course. The campus is also relatively small and very close to home for me, so the campus and community of Seward felt very comfortable. Concordia also has a strong teacher-preparation program, which was very important to me in determining which college to attend.

What are your esports goals?
My main esports goal is to contribute to the fun atmosphere esports presents. Additionally, Rocket League requires the player to consistently be focused, flexible, and quick to react, which are skills I intend to work on in preparation for my eventual career as an educator, as these are prime skills teachers must possess.
