· Notable: There was one up and one down last week as the Bulldogs continued conference play. Head Coach Jason Weides’ squad protected the home turf on Oct. 1 with a 3-0 win before falling at defending GPAC regular season champion Morningside, 3-1. In the victory, a goal apiece was contributed by Ricards Busmeisters (63’), Milo Hegarty (69’) and Connor Robbins (70’). Goalkeeper Inigo Chavarria saved the one shot on frame that he saw as Concordia earned a second-straight home shutout win. The Bulldogs were tested much more on their defensive third at Morningside as the Mustangs led the shot count, 19-9 (8-6 in shots on goal). Morningside held a 1-0 lead for much of the contest before three combined goals went on the board in the final six minutes. Busmeisters found the back of the net in the 89th minute, pushing his team high season goal count to five. As part of the win over Mount Marty, Hugo Garrote collected two assists and one apiece was earned by Slade Leicht and Kai Olbrich. Through 11 games this season, Concordia has scored 13 goals and has allowed 15. The Bulldogs are still in search of their first road win in 2025. · Notable: In outing No. 5 of the fall semester, the Bulldogs placed fourth high overall out of 17 teams at the Hastings Bronco Invite held at Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, Neb., the same location of the previous week’s Prairie Circuit Conference Championships. Head Coach Dylan Owens’ squad cracked 1,706 targets towards the team scoring, placing behind only William Penn University (1,817), Midland University (1,786) and Iowa Western Community College (1,740). Individually, senior Katie Welker continued an impressive fall by running 100 straight in trap. A native of Hamill, S.D., Welker emerged as the lone female to shoot a perfect score in trap at the Hastings Invite. From an HOA standpoint, it was a tight race between Welker and Devin Harris for the top score among Bulldogs. Harris wound up with a total of 351/400 with Welker on his heels at 350. Of the 18 Concordia athletes in the field, eight shot 300 or better HOA while battling the elements. The HOA total for Harris put him at No. 6 among all athletes in the field at the Hastings Invite. By discipline, the Bulldogs shot team totals of 481 in trap, 466 in skeet, 374 in sporting and 385 in super. Individual leaders by event were Welker in trap (100), Harris and Welker in skeet (96) and Harris in sporting (81) and super (80). Concordia has this weekend off from competition but will be lending its services to the Kids & Clays Sporting Clays Tournament at Oak Creek Sporting Club in Brainard, Neb., on Friday and Saturday.

· Notable: Fans in attendance in Yankton, S.D., could not have asked for much better entertainment. The Bulldogs moved to 4-0 via a wild 52-43 victory at Mount Marty this past week. Junior running back Carlos Collazo headlined the win by breaking the school record for single game rushing yards with 283 coming on 39 bruising carries. Collazo eclipsed the former record of 266 (shared by Ryan Durdon and Randy Pospishil) on his final carry – a 29-yard touchdown burst that put the game on ice. Incredibly, Concordia built a 31-7 lead only to squander it and trail 35-31 in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs quickly regained the lead as quarterback Gideon Stark engineered a five-play, 96-yard drive capped by a 38-yard touchdown toss to Jonny Puelz. Collazo gave Concordia some breathing room with his fourth quarter touchdown runs of five and 29 yards. The wildness of the contest was reflected by additional stats such as the 105 plays (74 passes) ran by Mount Marty and the fumble return for a touchdown by Daylon Henson on a botched punt snap (an occurrence that happened two weeks in a row). Stark finished with 160 passing yards and four total touchdowns (three passing and one rushing). Defensively, Dylan Meyer notched 4.5 tackles for loss and Jacob Rolen plucked an interception that set up a Bulldog touchdown. Head Coach Patrick Daberkow’s program has won nine-straight games, tying the 2000 and 2001 teams for a GPAC era program record. The streak will be put to the test on a homecoming Saturday that feature’s a clash with rival Midland.

· Notable: From a results standpoint, it was a disappointing week for the a Bulldog squad with GPAC championship aspirations. Concordia settled for a 0-0 home draw with Mount Marty before surrendering a 1-0 lead in a 3-1 loss at Morningside. Prior to that defeat, Head Coach Nick Smith’s program had gone unbeaten over its previous 19 regular season games. The tie with the Lancers was particularly frustrating in that the Bulldogs outshot their foe, 20-4 (10-4 in shots on goal). In the clash with the Mustangs, shots were at a premium (10-8 in Morningside’s favor). Concordia to a 1-0 lead to the halftime break thanks to Savannah Andrews’ well-struck goal at the 26-minute mark. It marked Andrews’ 29th career goal. However, the Mustangs wound up running away with it as they scored a goal apiece in the 47th, 59th and 74th minutes. Mount Marty and Morningside managed to keep Kierstynn Garner (12 goals and six assists this season) without a goal or an assist. Through 12 games in 2025, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by a combined total of 33-15. Concordia looks forward to a rivalry clash with defending GPAC champion Hastings on the road on Wednesday before coming back home to host Waldorf on homecoming Saturday.

· Notable: The season resumed this past Saturday with a trip to Adams Homestead & Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, S.D. The Bulldogs finished with team placements of fourth out of nine on the men’s side and sixth out of seven on the women’s side. The field provided strong competition as it included NCAA Division I foes in Creighton University and the University of South Dakota and NAIA top 25 Dordt (No. 9 women / No. 25 men). Once again, Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads were led individually by Keeli Green and Trey Robertson. Green placed ninth overall (defeated all GPAC/NAIA competition) in a 6k time of 22:00.31 while Robertson also placed ninth while completing the 8k race in 25:50.34. Notably, 2024 individual national qualifier Keegan Beisel made her season debut as she attempts to round back into form. So far this season, Concordia has competed favorably with GPAC competition. In the official GPAC ratings released last week by the NAIA, the Bulldogs checked in at No. 3 on the men’s side and at No. 4 on the women’s side. Concordia rarely has a meet on back-to-back Saturdays, but that will be the case in this instance as it preps to run at this Saturday’s Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Dordt.

· Notable: The Sioux City swing proved treacherous as the second-ranked Bulldogs were taken to five sets on the road by both Morningside and Briar Cliff this past weekend. Concordia pulled out the fifth set at Morningside, 15-9, and then at Briar Cliff, 15-11. The survival weekend pushed Head Coach Ben Boldt’s squad to 8-0 in league play (15-1 overall), good for a tie with No. 7 Northwestern atop the GPAC standings. In the latest victory, the Bulldogs overcame the Chargers’ dynamic blocking (19 blocks) with the help of a career-high 26 kills to go along with 27 digs. Concordia scrapped its way to victories despite hitting .136 for the weekend. The team’s statistical leaders over the two Sioux City matches were Keck in kills (41) and aces (three), Savannah Shelburne in assists (52), Emma Brueggemann in digs (61) and Ava Greene in blocks (13). It was also a strong weekend for Ella Waters, who produced 29 kills while hitting .277. The Bulldogs are 3-0 this season in five-set matches having also edged then No. 1 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University on Aug. 22. Keck (1,207 kills and 995 digs for her career) is on the cusp of joining the 1,000-1,000 club. A showdown with the Red Raiders on Friday night highlights this weekend’s slate. It will be a white-out at Friedrich Arena. Concordia will also host Waldorf on homecoming Saturday.
