Ybarra collects second career CoSIDA Academic All-District award

SEWARD, Neb. – The awards continue to stream in for accomplished Concordia University Wrestling student-athlete Mario Ybarra, even after his Bulldog career has been completed. On Thursday (May 19), Ybarra appeared on the list of 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team honorees, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The “At-Large” category includes student-athletes from wrestling and a variety of other intercollegiate sports.Bindl landed on the All-District 3 squad, which features award winners from the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Ybarra is now a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District award winner and a three-time NWCA (National Wrestling Coaches Association) Scholar All-American. The native of Scottsbluff, Neb., has graduated from Concordia with his degree in Physics. As a senior in 2021-22, Ybarra went 14-5 overall, placed second in the GPAC at 133 pounds and was named Second Team All-GPAC. A native of Scottsbluff, Neb., Ybarra won the 2020 GPAC title at 125 pounds and finished his career with 76 victories, fourth most in the history of Concordia Wrestling.
