2023-24 Concordia Wrestling Schedule

SEWARD, Neb. – The return of the GPAC Championships to Seward highlights a 2023-24 Concordia University Wrestling schedule now available to the public. As of the release on June 7, the ’23-24 slate features 14 regular season dates, including six open tournaments and a total of five home duals. Head Coach Chase Clasen’s squad is slated to open the new campaign by hosting Midland for a GPAC dual on Nov. 1.

Clasen completed his first season leading the Bulldog program in 2022-23. Concordia exceeded preseason expectations while placing third in the GPAC in both the regular season and at the conference tournament. The squad led by four national qualifiers equaled a school record for dual wins in a single season with 13. Individually, Issiah Burks won the 165-pound GPAC title and advanced to the national tournament along with teammates Creighton Baughman, Logan Davidson and Tavoris Smith. Baughman and Davidson will return to the lineup this winter.

The GPAC dual schedule for 2023-24 will again feature matchups with the eight opposing conference squads. Five of the eight GPAC duals will be held over two days as the conference continues to host its ‘crossover duals’ at the Long Lines Family Rec Center in Sioux City, Iowa. At that location, the Bulldogs will take on Dakota Wesleyan and Morningside on Nov. 21 and then will face Northwestern, Briar Cliff and Jamestown on Jan. 27. In additional dual action, Concordia will take part in the Avila University Duals on Dec. 16 and will host its senior night on Feb. 2 with Colby Community College and York University scheduled to be present that evening.

All of those events will lead into the 2024 GPAC Wrestling Championships set for Feb. 16-17 inside Friedrich Arena. Concordia last hosted the conference championships in 2016 when the GPAC was included as part of the NAIA North Group Qualifying Tournament. A couple of new events on this season’s slate will be the Simpson University Luther Hill Invite on Nov. 4 and the Grand View University Open on Nov. 10-11.

The final destination for the 2023-24 season will be Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan., where the 67th annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships will be held. The national tournament first moved to Park City in 2020 and has remained in that location since then.
