Bulldogs to open dual season this weekend

The NAIA 17th ranked Concordia University Bulldog wrestling team will open up their 2011-12 dual meet season on November 18 against Lakeland College.  The dual will be held at Sheboygan Falls High School in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.

The Bulldogs are coming off strong showings in open tournament competitions.  A total of 23 wrestlers have placed in the first two tournaments of the young season.

The Bulldogs will open with this lineup:
125 – Brandon Roath (Lincoln, Neb.) 2-5
133 – Adam Joseph (Hastings, Neb.) 9-1
141 – Alex Stepanek (St. Paul, Neb.) 6-2
149 – Brandon Starkey (St. Paul, Neb.) 7-3
157 – Traven Claflin (Sumner, Neb.) 6-2
165 – Nick Sheppard (Edgewood, Colo.) 2-4
174 – Alfredo Torres (Covina, Calif.) 6-2
        Kale Hintz (Hebron, Neb.) 2-5
184 – Seth Crane (North Platte, Neb.) 6-2     `
197 – Seth Bass (Bellevue, Neb.) 0-0
285 – Hunter Cummins (Farmington, N.M.) 1-5

“Dual meets are a whole different dynamic than that of a tournament,” noted head coach Doug Reese.  “The entire meet hinges on each point of each match.  Each match builds upon the previous match.  It is a stressful and intense hour and a half of wrestling.  We have only two returning wrestlers in the lineup since our last dual in February of 2011, so this will be a whole new experience for this team.  The biggest advantage we have is that our lineup has experienced winning tough, physical matches this season.”

The dual begins at 7:00 pm.
